alright, then. it's been a while since my last entry. I have since arrived at school and endured a week of classes as well as a rather intense audition. it's been really wonderful. I'm extremely pleased with my living situation - my dorm is like a mansion, it's spectacular! - and everyone in the suite is so much fun to be around. basically, we like to have epic battles involving either pillows, towels, or nerf guns ... sometimes in the dark ... it's fantastic. but, seriously- our suite is phenomenal. there's nine of us; there's an upstairs and a downstairs just to OUR suite. it's just wonderful. it feels like a little apartment, which I like.
classes have been good so far. I'm pumped for my theatre history/literature class as we have to teach two lessons: one on a topic and one on a play, each selected from a given list. I am doing mine on the Golden Age of Musicals and The Importance of Being Earnest. I LOVE that play so much! it's fantastic. I can't wait to lead the discussion on it and everything. along with that class I'm in an acting course, which is going to be wonderful. the group is great. I'm in a costume construction course where we learn how to ... make clothes/costume! the entire course is you making an outfit of your choosing. YAY! then, I've got music theory and aural skills, which are kind of tedious but the teacher is adorable and so it's all right.
I auditioned for the show we're doing this fall, Eleemosynary ... and I managed a callback! I was shocked and thrilled, because I have been yearning to act under this director since she adjudicated our show at the NH State Drama Festival my senior year in high school. there were ten of us at callbacks, and the show is a three-woman show. callbacks were incredible and intense and nearly three hours long! it was wonderful, though. I didn't want them to end- I just wanted to prove myself over and over and over. (I'm weird and love auditions...) so, anyway. out of the ten of us there were three roles and then two understudy positions. I got cast as understudy to two out of the three characters. not quite what I was hoping for, but it's all good. I'm thrilled to be working on a show, to be acting (even if I may not be on stage at all), and to learn so much. the way I see it, I am going to learn a ton and then I'll be even better at my next audition at the end of the semester for the spring show, which is A Lie of the Mind and another show I'd LOVE to be in.
anyway. that's my life. I'm going to be remarkably busy with rehearsals. six days a week, 6PM-10PM. yeah. but, I love it. I can't wait to start. the cast is great, I love them all. we're going to have so much fun. c: finally, I'm doing what I want to be doing! (kind of... ha!)
